New Website Created to Inform Public About Bleeding Control
The American College of Surgeons and the Hartford Consensus have launched a new website that aims to provide a one-stop online resource for users to learn about bleeding control.
Bleedingcontrol.org provides diagrams, news, videos and other resources with the goal of giving information to the public to learn proper bleeding control techniques.
Resources available to the public include printable pamphlets and booklets, posters, instructional videos and up-to-date news on bleeding control techniques.
Although the focus of the site is largely on informing the general public, Bleedingcontrol.org also provides some resources for first responders, including information about active shooter response.
Advances made by military medicine in terms of hemorrhage control during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been a major source of the information provided by the initiative.
Some of the partners involved in providing the new website include NAEMT, the Department of Homeland Security, FEMA, Tactical Casualty Combat Care and the U.S. Department of Defense.
