LAFD Firefighter Stabbed by Patient in Hospital

Matt Hamilton

Sept. 02--A Los Angeles firefighter was stabbed Tuesday night in a Boyle Heights hospital, but police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

The LAFD firefighter was accompanying a patient for medical care at White Memorial Hospital's emergency room about 9:30 p.m. when another patient pulled a knife from his sock and attacked the firefighter, said Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Officer Mike Lopez.

The firefighter is hospitalized in stable condition.

The assailant, a man between 25 and 30, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, Lopez said. His identity was not immediately available.
