Ga. Man Saved after Suspected Overdose

Tyler H. Jones

A LaGrange police officer saved the life of a man who allegedly overdosed on heroin Monday night on Glenridge Drive.

The officer was the first emergency responder to arrive at the residence and found the man on a bathroom floor unconscious and not breathing.

After checking his vital signs and not finding a pulse, the officer performed CPR on the man and activated a defibrillator to restart his heart.

Shortly thereafter, paramedics arrived and took over efforts to resuscitate the man and administered a dose of a medication to help counteract the effects of the suspected heroin overdose.

The man was transported to West Georgia Medical Center where he was stabilized. It was unclear at press time if he faces charges related to drug possession.

In his official report, the officer noted that used needles and other narcotics were found in the residence.
