Paramedics Plus Expands to S.D.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (November 17, 2014) – Paramedics Plus, one of the nation’s leading ambulance service providers, has won approval to expand its services to Sioux Falls, the largest city in South Dakota.

Last Wednesday, a selection committee picked Paramedics Plus from a group of four finalists to serve as the new ground ambulance service provider for Sioux Falls.

Paramedics Plus is a safety and emergency services (EMS) system management organization that provides a full range of staffing and leadership options for large-scale paramedic ambulance services around the country.

In addition to providing service for the East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System, Tyler, Texas-based Paramedics Plus serves Pinellas County; Alameda County, California; and Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Paramedics Plus is dedicated to delivering innovative, high-quality and cost-effective emergency care, tailored to the specific needs of the community. The company’s reputation for building strong relationships with patients, local EMS operators, and the community impressed the selection committee in Sioux Falls.

“As a growing community, we needed to take a fresh look at our ambulatory services,” said Jill Franken, Sioux Falls Public Health Director. “We were impressed with the quality of the service provided by Paramedics Plus in other cities, and think our patients will receive a high level of quality care and service.”

Paramedics Plus will assume emergency response responsibilities from Rural Metro, which has served Sioux Falls for almost 20 years. The city will negotiate a five-year contract with Paramedics Plus in the coming months.

“We are pleased that the City of Sioux Falls has expressed confidence in Paramedics Plus to provide this important service to the community,” said Ron Schwartz, president of Paramedics Plus.

The selection committee also saw value in the connection between Sioux Falls and Mark Postma, vice president of Paramedics Plus, who grew up in the area.

“I started my career in the Sioux Falls area and am excited for the opportunity for Paramedics Plus to provide excellent emergency care in the area,” said Postma, who works with all of the Paramedics Plus brands across the country. “Our first step will to bring in new ambulances equipped with bariatric stretchers, along with the latest technology in monitors and defibrillators.”
