San Antonio Paramedic Suspended After Drunk-Driving Incidents
Feb. 20--A San Antonio Fire Department paramedic was handed a 90-day suspension in December following two separate drunken driving incidents in the fall of 2014, according to department records.
Erich Wolf, a veteran of nearly seven years, was arrested in Austin around 3:47 a.m. on Aug. 15 on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
According to authorities, he failed to show up for his shift at Fire Station No. 22 on time, and later called in to report that he had been arrested.
A second DWI arrest came around on Nov. 1, when Wolf had been driving a limousine in the 1500 block of Interstate 35 in San Marcos when he was involved in a one-vehicle accident, department records show.
According to an internal document notifying Wolf of his indefinite suspension Nov. 20, Wolff, who was intoxicated, initially told authorities that his friend had been driving the limo at the time of the crash.
"The truth is that you were driving the limousine when the traffic accident occurred, and you attempted to lay the blame on someone else," the document said.
Wolf was issued another indefinite suspension on Dec. 18, which was reduced to 90 days and enrollment in rehabilitation and counseling programs.
