Woman Rescued from Overturned Car in Wash. Pond
Dec. 27--Tacoma fire crews on Saturday rescued a woman who spent more than 20 minutes trapped upside down in her car in a stormwater retention pond.
The woman reportedly suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital after the crew retrieved her, according to the Tacoma Fire Department.
She reportedly lost control of her car and crashed into a stormwater retention pond about 2 p.m. near the Rite Aid about in the 1900 block of North Pearl Street.
Fire officials said she was in the pond for some time before someone noticed her and called in a report. The woman reportedly could not reach her cellphone in her car.
A fire crew was able to free her from the vehicle through its passenger side window. She was conscious and talking to firefighters during the rescue, fire officials said.
