Muddy Angels Visit BWI Marshall

On Friday, May 23, 2014 the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride participants made a stop at the Maryland Aviation Administration Kauffman Building when the ride took them along the BWI Bike Trail, on the way to the Nation’s Capital.

The National EMS Memorial Bike Ride is in honor of the National EMS Memorial Service which began in 1993 to honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice and laid down their lives in the line of duty in U.S. EMS Systems. To date, the National EMS Memorial Service has honored 423 individuals, including 16 Maryland residents and six Maryland State Employees with the Maryland State Police: Corporal Gregory A. May and TFC Carey S Poetzman LODD 1/19/1986 honored in 2000, Stephen H. Bunker and TFC Mickey C. Lippy LODD 9/28/08 honored 2009, Pilot Phillip L. Russ and TFC Thomas A Noyle LODD 10/28/72 honored 2000.

The ride began on May 17th in Boston, MA and ended on May 23rd in Washington, DC, “traveling south passing though many historical areas and urban epicenters. A highlight for many riders was the escorted ride through Manhattan, including Time’s Square. The following days included the hills and tranquility of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The riders left Towson on Friday morning with BWI Marshall Airport as their first rest stop of the day.

In support of their fellow EMS Providers, BWI Marshall Fire & Rescue Department Paramedic 44 and Tower 43 personnel greeted riders as they arrived at the Kauffman Building parking lot at their first rest stop on their final day.
