Eight Injured in Texas Bus, Police Car Crash
June 24--1:20 p.m.update: Medics took eight people to hospitals after the Capital Metro bus they were riding in was involved in a collision with an unmarked Austin police car, according to officials.
Medics took two people to St. David's North Austin Medical Center, three people to Seton Northwest Hospital and three people to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center. None of their injuries were life-threatening, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.
Veneza Bremner, a senior police officer with the Austin Police Department, said it's not clear who was at fault.
The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on North Lamar Boulevard near Rundberg Lane.
1 p.m. update: Four ambulances and an Austin-Travis County EMS commander's vehicle are taking eight people to the hospital after the Capital Metro bus they were riding in was involved in a collision around 12:30 p.m., according to officials.
Mike Benavides, a commander for EMS, said 13 people were on the bus. He said it appears that a car was also involved in the wreck, but that no one in that vehicle was reported as injured.
Patient conditions are still unknown, he said.
Earlier: At least eight people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a collision involving a Capital Metro bus in North Austin, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.
Medics are at the scene of the crash, on North Lamar Boulevard near Rundberg Lane.
It wasn't clear if another vehicle was involved, or how badly the patients' injuries are.
