Man Pleads Guilty in Pa. Ambulance Billing Fraud

By LARRY ALEXANDER

A Lancaster man charged with killing a Philadelphia woman and three of her children as they crossed a street last summer, has pleaded guilty to Medicare fraud.

Khusen Akhmedov, 23, pleaded guilty to ambulance fraud in federal court in Philadelphia on Friday. Akhmedov is an emergency medical technician who, according to news reports, started his own patient transport business.

The charges claim that Akhmedov recruited non-emergency patients for ambulance trips, promising them kickback, according to the Associated Press.

The report says he defrauded the government of more than $1.5 million.
