Teen Mom Stabbed to Death at Texas Bus Stop

Dec. 04--SAN ANTONIO -- The 17-year-old girl stabbed to death Tuesday after school on the South Side has been identified as Megan Hernandez.

An autopsy will be conducted today to determine Hernandez' cause of death, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's office.

Hernandez was stabbed five times in the torso at about 3 p.m. while she was holding her baby girl at a bus stop at Mission Road and Hansford Street, according to police. She was pronounced dead just after 5 p.m. at University Hospital, the medical examiner's office said.

Hernandez was a student at the Por Vida Academy Charter High School in the 1100 block of Mission Road.

A 17-year-old boy was charged in the stabbing, according to police. The teen had been in a relationship with Hernandez, but police said Tuesday it was unclear whether he was the child's father.

The teenage boy approached Hernandez while she was waiting for the bus after school and the two began to argue, according to police. The boy pulled a knife and stabbed Hernandez five times, according to police.

A bystander grabbed the baby as the attack began and ran to a relative's house nearby.

The boy fled on foot and was caught a few blocks away in the 1500 block of Roosevelt Avenue with blood staining his hands and shorts.

Hernandez' baby was unharmed, police said.

A 15-year-old boy who was cut on the arm trying to stop the assault was treated at the scene by EMS.
