BRIEF: Two trick-or-treaters struck, injured in Cloverdale crosswalk crash
Nov. 01--Two trick-or-treaters in costume were struck in a crosswalk and injured while crossing South Cloverdale Boulevard on Thursday night, Cloverdale police and fire personnel said.
A 12-year-old boy had both legs broken and was airlifted to Oakland Children's Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, emergency personnel said.
A 13-year-old boy also was injured but apparently had less serious injuries. He was taken by ground ambulance fo Healdsburg District Hospital, fire and police personnel said.
The boys were walking eastbound in the marked crosswalk at Healdsburg Avenue and South Street shortly before 7 p.m. when a northbound Ford Ranger pickup hit them, police siad.
The 75-year-old driver was not identififed in a news release issued by Cloverdale police, but authorities said he was fully cooperative and did not appear to have been drinking, speeding or using a cell phone.
The intersection, just about 100 yards north of the city fire station, does not have a traffic signal.
