Dog Bites Nose Off 3-Year-Old Maryland Boy
Oct. 27--GLEN BURNIE -- A 3-year-old Glen Burnie boy was hospitalized after a dog attacked him and bit off part of his nose.
Lt. Keith Hamilton, a spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, said firefighters were called to the 200 block of Glen Road just after 6:30 p.m., after the family requested assistance in locating the missing body part.
Firefighters were able to locate the part of the nose and take it to Baltimore-Washington Medical Center, where the child had already been taken by his parents. The child was then taken to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Trauma Center in Baltimore for further treatment, according to county police.
Police said the dog was a Labrador-terrier mix that belongs to a neighbor and was confined in his own yard at the time. Initial investigation indicates the child may have put his face under the fence through a hole when he was bitten, police said.
The owners of the dog cooperated with the investigation and turned the dog over to Animal Control, which will further investigate the incident, police said.
