10/07/2013
An ambulance went off SR-78 in Carlsbad and crashed into a power pole early Monday morning, reports 10 News.
The crew was going to pick up a patient when the driver reportedly swerved to avoid a raccoon, went off the highway and navigated a nearly 90-degree drop of 100 feet before striking the pole.
Firefighters fought the brush fire with live wires overhead, 10 News reports. The flames were quickly knocked down and power restored to the area.
Neither of the EMTs were hurt in the incident.
