Jesse Mendoza

Nov. 21--RAYMONDVILLE -- Three men and a woman died Tuesday after their SUV rolled over about 10 miles north of Raymondville on Expressway 77, according to emergency management officials.

A 3-year-old girl was airlifted to the hospital and was listed in stable condition, authorities said. Her name was not released.

"We had three fatalities on scene and then we transported five more patients (to the hospital)," Frank Torres, Willacy County EMS coordinator, said.

Torres said eight people were in the SUV when it rolled. He said three men were pronounced dead at the scene and that five persons, including two children, were taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center.

Two men, the driver and a passenger, have been released from the hospital, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Johnny Hernandez wrote in an email.

Hernandez identified the three men who died as Sanricardo Ramirez, 47, of Harlingen, Jason Anthony Mayhood, 35, of Brownsville and Enrique Rodriguez, 20, of Edcouch. Hernandez said one of the patients, who he identified as Patricia Castro, 30, of Mercedes died at the hospital.

Hernandez said the accident occurred about 12:34 a.m. Tuesday when the driver of the SUV drove off the roadway and over-corrected, causing the SUV to flip. He said none of the vehicle's occupants were wearing seatbelts, and at least four persons were ejected from the vehicle.
