Man Grabs Woman, Spits on Pennsylvania EMTs

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A 23-year-old man is accused of assaulting a woman at a Hamilton Township home, then spitting on emergency responders attempting to provide medical care.

In a statement issued Monday, Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg, said Shawn Smith, no address provided, was intoxicated when he allegedly grabbed a 32-year-old woman by the throat Nov. 28 at 721 Center Drive.

He was also allegedly being "loud and using profanities" before he began spitting on the EMTs. He is being charged with aggravated assault, police said.
