Ala. Woman Arrested After Child Takes Methadone
Jan. 11--A Dothan woman has been arrested in connection with an apparent drug overdose of her child, who was flown to a Birmingham hospital for medical treatment.
Andrea Michelle Senn, 26, of Woodleigh Road, is charged with chemical endangerment of a child.
According to Dothan police, Senn left two children inside her car while she was washing the vehicle on Saturday. At some point, a 2-year-old ingested methadone, which was left in the center console of the vehicle. Senn realized the child had taken the methadone, but did not take her to a hospital, instead choosing to monitor the child herself, according to police.
Three and a half hours later, Senn called 911 when the child's condition became critical and she appeared to not be breathing. The child was taken to a local hospital where she was stabilized before being flown to a hospital in Birmingham. She is stable now and expected to make a full recovery.
