Oct. 27--FORT WORTH -- A flight student, his instructor and a passenger were seriously injured Wednesday morning in the crash of a twin-engine plane near Hicks Field in northwest Tarrant County.

Two of those on board were taken to hospitals by helicopter ambulance, and the third was taken by ground ambulance, emergency officials said.

The plane, a Beech 76 owned by Pro Aircraft Flight Training, went down in a pasture shortly after 9 a.m. in the 3200 block of Peden Road, less than a mile from Hicks Field. The flight school is based at Hicks Field.

"It burned up except for part of the tail section," said Terry Grisham of the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department, who was at the scene.

Grisham said authorities did not have any information on what caused the crash or when the plane took off.

Two men were seated in the front of the plane and a woman was in a back seat, Grisham said.

"All three were conscious when they were taken by the ambulances," Grisham said.

Emergency officials reported that two of the thee people were critically injured. Their identities were not immediately released.

FAA officials were on the scene investigating the crash.
