New York Volunteer and Nurse Trade Saving Lives

MELISSA HOLMES

Buffalo, NY-- An amazing story that unfolded right here in Western New York is capturing the attention of the world. A young man saves a woman's life and then learns she did the same for him years ago. News 4's Melissa Holmes has more.

Some say this story is just as rare and coincidental as lightning striking in the same place twice.

About seven years ago, now 17 year old Kevin Stephan was struck in the chest by a bat at a baseball game and went into cardiac arrest.

Buffalo General Hospital Nurse Penny Brown ran to the field and saved the boy by giving him CPR.

Fast forward to just last week, Penny started choking while she ate at a restaurant in Depew. And believe it or not, Kevin rushed out of the kitchen, gave her the Heimlich maneuver and saved her life.

This amazing story has captured national attention and Monday morning they both appeared on CBS's The Early Show, and they say they've been getting calls from everyone from Ellen Degeneres to the National Enquirer.

Coming up on News 4 at 5, we'll tell you how Kevin and Penny want to help others by telling their unbelievable story.
