Texas Man Charged with Killing Mom on Ambulance Cot

EMSWorld.com News

A Texas man has been charged with murder after striking his mother as she was being placed in an ambulance last week.

Police told KVUE TV that Shaun Samuelson, 45, had asked his mother, Virginia Samuelson, for money on Thursday. He beat her when she said no.

She escaped and ran to a service station where she sought help.

As EMS crews were loading her into the ambulance, they heard the screeching tires and saw a truck coming toward them from around a corner, according to the statesman, quoting from court records.

The truck jumped the curb and made a beeline for the stretcher. One of the paramedics pushed his partner out of the way and screamed at the police officers to run. They tried to get the woman to safety but were unable to do so in time, officers wrote in the warrant.

The truck collided with the stretcher and dragged it underneath about 75 yards down Lamar Square Drive, police reported.

One of the medics suffered minor injuries.

Samuelson faces a murder charge and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
