FDNY Ambulance Collides With Minivan

NEW YORK -- Four people escaped with minor injuries in Midtown yesterday when an ambulance smashed into a minivan.

The van rolled over several times before barreling into a pole, coming to a halt on its side and trapping the driver inside.

The ambulance was traveling south on 11th Avenue on an emergency call with its sirens blaring just after 2:30 p.m., police said.

A witness said the Ford minivan had a green light as it crossed the avenue on 50th Street when the FDNY ambulance blasted into it.

"It rolled over many times," said witness Irma Aboras, who was driving an empty school bus nearby. The injured included two ambulance crew and two van passengers.
