Vidacare® Congratulates the First Winners of its Heroes Campaign

Press Release

San Antonio, TX -- March 2008 --Vidacare, the leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of advanced intraosseous (IO) technology, today announced the January and February winners of the Vidacare Heroes Campaign award. Keith Clark of the Saints Medical Center paramedic team in Lowell, MA is the January Vidacare Hero and Shaun Rock of the Motorcycle Response Unit paramedic team in London, England is the February Vidacare Hero.

Clark was nominated by his supervisor for his quick action in utilizing the EZ-IO product system. Clark and his partner had responded to a call involving a patient with multiple knife-inflicted lacerations and massive blood loss. He immediately established vascular access with two EZ-IO lines and rapidly infused fluids before transporting the patient to the hospital. The patient survived the life threatening injuries after massive in-hospital transfusions and vascular surgery.

Rock was nominated for improving patient care delivered by his response team, since he is responsible for ensuring that all MRU paramedics have been educated in the use of the EZ-IO during a trial of intraosseous devices. According to his manager, the team is very much in the public eye, and Rock has been instrumental in helping them meet very demanding clinical expectations.

Vidacare recently announced the development of the 2008 Heroes Campaign, a monthly recognition program to honor emergency professionals and acknowledge unsung heroes who act quickly and effectively to obtain vascular access with the EZ-IO® product system.

A.J. Heightman, the editor of Journal of Emergency Medical Services judges each month's award submissions. One emergency service provider per month will be recognized as the Vidacare Hero. At the end of the year, one Ultimate Vidacare Hero will be chosen from the monthly winners. The Ultimate Vidacare Hero will be able to select an emergency services student in his or her community to receive the Vidacare Intraosseous (IO) Scholarship worth $2,000.

Vidacare urges emergency medical personnel, including EMTs, paramedics, flight medics, fire fighters, emergency physicians and emergency nurses to nominate colleagues via an entry form on the company website: www.vidacare.com. Entries should describe how the emergency responder used the EZ-IO® to gain vascular access and the outcome of the event.
