The issue of EMS helicopter safety was back in the national spotlight following a fatal crash last Saturday in Maryland.
The pilot, flight medic, EMT and a teen patient were killed. A second teen patient aboard the chopper survived.
This was the eighth fatal medical helicopter crash in the past 12 months, and the National Transportation Safety Board is calling for increased safety measures.

EMS Patient/Artist Provides Print to Be Offered at EMS EXPO
After a fateful night in April 2004 when paramedics rushed to her home as she was having trouble breathing, self-taught artist Teri Forero forged an inspirational relationship with the fire/EMS industry.
Her paintings are her way of thanking the rescue community, and Teri is now honored to be painting a 20th Anniversary commemorative print for EMS EXPO, being held Oct. 13 -- 17, 2008, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
