FDNY Receives $10,000 Grant for Training and Exercise Equipment

HUB International Northeast and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company have partnered to award a $10,000 grant to the FDNY tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the quarters of Engine Company 298/Ladder 127 in Jamaica, Queens to purchase equipment to enhance the training technology and physical fitness of its members.

Grant funds will be used for the purchase of a laptop, digital camera and other equipment to be used for creating presentations for company drills which focus on response to locations in their coverage area. A forcible entry simulator, designed to train firefighters on how to open all types of doors, and a GPS navigation system to assist in responding to emergencies will also be purchased. Finally, grant funds have been allocated for the purchase of a treadmill to help ensure the physical fitness of the members of this house.

“Being the best fire department in the world means being the most prepared fire department,” said Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta. “This generous grant helps keep our members prepared both physically and mentally to respond to any emergency and to better protect the people of New York.”

Fireman’s Fund has awarded over $300,000 to the New York City Fire Department since December 2006. This is the fourth grant HUB International Northeast has awarded the FDNY through Fireman’s Fund philanthropic program. Zara Realty, based in Jamaica, assisted in this grant process.
