Two Maryland responders and two civilians were injured Tuesday morning in a crash involving an ambulance and another vehicle.

The ambulance from Prince George's County Fire/EMS was en route to a medical call when the incident occurred in the Fort Washington area, according to Mark Brady, agency spokesman.

Two civilians sustained injuries. An adult male was transported by paramedics to an area hospital while the other refused ambulance transport, Brady said.

The two crew members from Ambulance 847 were transported to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. All injuries are categorized as minor and non-life threatening.

The ambulance sustained significant damage, approximately $20,000, and will be placed out of service until repairs are made.

Brady said the crash is under investigation.
