New York City EMT Busted for Prescription Drug Theft
11/23/2004
November 24, 2004 -- A city EMS worker was busted for stealing prescription drugs in an undercover sting yesterday, authorities said.
Claire Cinque, 44, was arrested after a cop posing as a patient complaining of back pain flagged down her ambulance on Court Square in Long Island City, Queens.
After picking up her "patient," Cinque asked the woman if she took any medications. The cop said yes and handed her two medicine bottles, from which the EMT allegedly stole 21 Vicodin and oxycodeine pills before handing the bottles back.
The Department of Investigation began to probe Cinque after receiving complaints from patients who said they lost drugs and money while in her care.
Cinque was charged with drug possession, misconduct and possession of stolen property.
