Yet another tragedy this week in EMS: a Sussex County, Delaware paramedic and a patient were killed early Tuesday when their ambulance swerved to avoid a deer and smashed into a tree.
Paramedic Stephanie L. Callaway, 31, was in the rear of the ambulance attending to patient Betty J. Hall, 82, when the crash occurred. Hall and EMT Brice H. Hickman, 47, were ejected. The driver, Michael E. Wissman, 34, was also injured in the crash.
