NEW ORLEANS --
A 64-year-old man with signs of a stroke was transported from a cruise ship leaving New Orleans to a waiting ambulance on Friday.
According to the Coast Guard, the Carnival Triumph was just north of Buras, La., on the Mississippi River when the man became ill.
A Coast Guard response boat and crew caught up to the ship and took the man to an emergency medical services vehicle waiting in Venice.
The man's condition was not known Friday afternoon.
