Pa. Man Rescued After Hours Trapped in Conveyor Belt
MONACA, Pa. --
A man working in a Beaver County industrial building got his arm caught in a conveyor belt for several hours Sunday morning before firefighters were able to pull him out.
A man in his 30s was loading limestone onto a conveyor belt at Colona Transfer Terminal in Monaca at about 4:15 a.m. when his arm was smashed in the belt, firefighters said.
More than six rescue crews spent hours at the scene trying to extricate the man's arm. He was pulled out at about 6:45 a.m.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital. A helicopter meant to take him to the hospital was grounded due to bad weather.
The man's condition was not immediately released.
Colona Transfer is a transfer facility specializing in trans-loading, storage and transportation of dry bulk commodities such as coal, industrial minerals and salt, according to the company's website.
