Fla. Worker Seriously Hurt in 2-Story Fall
COCOA, Fla. --
Paramedics airlifted an injured maintenance worker to a hospital after he fell two stories from a building in Cocoa.
The accident happened about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday on the grounds of the Asbury Arms assisted living complex, just off the 1200 block of Clearlake Road.
“He fell off a 20-foot ladder,” Lt. Rob Bobay, a spokesman for the Cocoa Police Department, told Local 6 News partner Florida Today.
The unidentified worker was described as bleeding and semi-alert when paramedics from the Cocoa Fire Department found him lying on the ground.
Cocoa police were also called to block off traffic in and around Clearlake Middle School to allow for the landing of a medical helicopter.
“We assisted the fire department in setting up a landing zone,” Bobay said.
The worker was to be airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center’s trauma unit in Melbourne for further care.
An investigation is under way.
