Res-Q-Jack Introduces Insulated Strut Heads
Res-Q-Jack, Inc. has introduced insulated strut heads to accompany the Res-Q-Jack vehicle stabilization tool. These strut heads provide more protection for rescue personnel in situations where there is the possibility of electric shock. Emergency workers have been especially concerned about electric shock with the recently-introduced hybrid vehicles because of their high-voltage batteries. The Res-Q-Jack is used in several different applications, including vehicle stabilization in accidents. The insulated strut heads are coated with a material that has a strength of about 300 V/mil (Volts/.001"). A 1/8" (.125" or 125 mil) thick sheet will provide a barrier that will not conduct electricity up to 37,500 volts.

ResQPOD gets IIa rating from AHA
The ResQPOD, an impedance threshold device (ITD), has been given a Class IIa recommendation by the American Heart Association (AHA) in its recently released guidelines for CPR and emergency cardiac care. The ResQPOD, from Advanced Circulatory Systems, Inc., was cited by the AHA as improving circulation during CPR and increasing the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) in cardiac arrest patients. When used on patients in cardiac arrest, it harnesses the chest wall recoil after each compression to generate a small but critical vacuum within the thorax. This vacuum enhances blood flow back to the heart and results in a marked increase in blood flow out of the heart with the subsequent chest compression.
