CentreLearn Releases 10 New RapidCE™ Lessons

Shrewsbury, PA, April 10, 2007 -- CentreLearn Solutions, LLC, announces the release of 10 new EMS and fire/rescue lessons as part of its popular RapidCE™ online continuing education system for EMTs, paramedics, and firefighters.

"Our new lessons represent some of the topics people have been asking for most, from forcible entry to emergency treatment of ventricular fibrillation," said Jim Eastham, Sc.D, chief executive officer of CentreLearn. "The biggest benefit of RapidCE is that it allows emergency responders to get high quality accredited continuing education quickly and conveniently on their own schedule, with instant grading and downloadable completion certificates," he added.

Like all CentreLearn materials, the new RapidCE lessons are presented in an easy-to-navigate, interactive, narrated Flash movie format so students can learn quickly, effectively and in a way that supports retention. The new lessons, which are produced exclusively for CentreLearn by Emergency Preparedness Systems LLC, join an extensive library of content designed to meet the training needs of all prehospital emergency responders, designed by expert EMT, paramedic and flight nurse instructors.

RapidCE lessons are available on a pay-per-credit basis for $6.95 per credit, or through subscription plans. Responders can take a free sample lesson and test, including credit, at www.rapidce.com or by calling 877-435-9309.

New lessons include:

Patient Assessment
An EMT must be confident in their patient assessment skills -- laying the foundation for every decision made from the time of on-scene arrival to transfer of care at the hospital. EMTs need to quickly and accurately answer questions like: "Do I need back up?" "Should I administer medications?" "Should I transport this patient?" The new two part patient assessment lesson is filled with high quality photographs and scenarios to highlight critical points. Patient Assessment Part 1 reviews the scene size-up and initial assessment with a special focus on identifying and treating life threats. Patient Assessment Part 2 explores the components of obtaining the patient's medical history, completing a head to toe physical exam, collecting vital signs, and performing an ongoing assessment.

Airway Management
Maintaining excellent basic life support skills for airway assessment and management is vital regardless of an EMT's level of experience. This lesson explores anatomy, physiology, and basic airway management techniques.

Calcium Channel Blocker Overdose and Tricyclic Antidepressant Overdose
Tricyclic antidepressants and calcium channel blockers are widely prescribed medications; however, when used incorrectly, they are among the most lethal prescription medication overdoses. Learn the indications of overdose as well as pharmacological information for both types of medications.

Depression
Depression is the most common mental health disorder in the United States. Discover the causes and symptoms, as well as the assessment and treatment principles of depression.

Emergency Treatment of Ventricular Fibrillation and Pulseless Ventricular Tachycardia
Learn to understand the causes, assessment techniques, and treatment principles for two common forms of sudden cardiac arrest which, when untreated, lead to a half-million deaths each year.

Emergency Treatment of Ventricular Tachycardia with Pulses
Untreated, ventricular tachycardia can quickly deteriorate into ventricular fibrillation. In this lesson, learn to distinguish and treat stable and unstable patients with ventricular tachycardia.

Forcible Entry: Wood Doors
Fire attack, search and rescue, and emergency evacuation can all require forcible entry. Review the indications, personnel, tools and techniques for forcible entry.

MRSA
Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus is a commonly found infection in hospitalized patients. It is easily transferred to emergency response personnel and is resistant to treatment. Discover the causes, symptoms, and critical prevention techniques in this lesson.
