From the Publisher: Will You Join Us at the Capitol?

   Registration is now open for NAEMT's EMS on the Hill Day, scheduled for May 3-4 in Washington, D.C.

   Last year, nearly 150 responders headed to Capitol Hill to let their elected officials know they need assistance. The responders included volunteers and career personnel. Some worked for fire-based EMS, some for non-profits and some were hospital-based.

   This event provides a unique opportunity to educate our congressional leaders about the needs of the EMS profession. Let's face it, the folks in D.C. are bombarded with requests from special interest groups and lobbyists all the time. But rarely, if ever, do they get to sit down with the people in their own community who answer the 9-1-1 calls. EMS on the Hill Day provides the only opportunity for EMS practitioners to do just that--to talk to their senators and House leaders about the challenges of providing quality emergency medical care to their communities.

   Nothing has a greater impact than a face-to-face meeting. Participants come from all over the country and represent the full spectrum of the profession. With a new congress and new leadership in the House, it's critically important that we are able to share our issues with each member of the Senate and House. So, why attend EMS on the Hill Day?
