Psychiatric Medical Care Appoints New Chief Operations Officer

Psychiatric Medical Care, a Brentwood, Tennessee-based provider of mental health services, has announced the appointment of P. Paul Smith Jr., FACHE, as its new chief operations officer. Smith has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, including experience overseeing behavioral health operations for acute care hospitals.

Smith has served as group president for Bon Secours Mercy Health, where he oversaw operations in 4 markets that included 15 hospitals. He has also served as a division president for Community Health Systems, where he led 26 acute care hospitals in 26 states. Smith also spent 14 years with Health Management Associates, where he served as vice president and chief executive officer of Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in North Carolina.

Uwill Secures $30 Million in Series A Funding

Uwill, a Boston, Massachusetts-based mental health and wellness solution for colleges and students, announced on Tuesday that it has completed a $30 million series A funding round. The investment was funded by Education Growth Partners, a private equity firm that provides growth capital in the education, workplace, and learning sectors.

Founded in 2020, Uwill has built relationships with more than 150 colleges, supporting public and private institutions and students in all 50 states by assisting campus counseling centers with its student and therapist matching platform.

Collective Integrated Behavioral Health Announces Name Change

The Collective Integrated Behavioral Health, a multistate operator of outpatient behavioral health programs, announced on Thursday that the organization is changing its name to Sol Mental Health. The company, which was founded in Denver, Colorado, is fully in-network and serves children, adolescents, and adults through its in-person clinics and virtual care options.

CEO Kevin Trexler said in a news release that the new name reflects the organization’s mission.

“Sol Mental Heath is comprised of caring mental healthcare professionals who actively partner with individuals on their mental well-being goals,” Trexler said. “We want the brand to communicate that in a welcoming, clear, and uplifting manner.”

United Recovery Project to Open Behavioral Health Services

United Recovery Project (URP) announced this week that its newest treatment facility, to be located in South Florida, will soon open with a focus on behavioral health. An established provider of substance use disorder treatment services, URP Behavioral Health will also treat: anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, dissociative disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, self-harm, borderline personality disorder, and schizoaffective disorder.

URP Behavioral Health is a Level 1A residential treatment facility that offers individual, group, and family counseling, psychiatric and medical follow-up care, life skills training, medication counseling, medication management, case management, and recovery services. The program offers cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), assertive community treatment, and functional adaptive skills training.
