Celebrities among 2016 SAMHSA honorees
Actors Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard; filmmakers Rob Reiner and his son Nick; and entertainers Yashi Brown, her mother Rebbie Jackson-Brown and sister Stacy Brown-Salas were among the honorees at the 2016 Voice Awards, presented by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA) on Wednesday night in Los Angeles.
Bell and Shepard, the Reiners, and the Jackson-Brown family each received SAMHSA Special Recognition Awards for their work to improve awareness and understanding of behavioral health issues and for speaking out on the role of family support for those living with mental illness and addiction.
Television shows “Blue Bloods,” “The Carmichael Show,” “Empire,” “Madam Secretary,” “Mom” and “Nashville” were recognized for storylines and/or episodes addressing issues including mental health and substance use disorders.

In its 11th year, the Voice Awards program recognizes members of the TV and film industry and the behavioral health community who work to increase awareness and understanding of mental health and substance use disorders.
