About the Journal

Annals of Long-Term Care: Clinical Care and Aging® (ALTC) is a peer-reviewed medical journal featuring research and insights on the care and management of residents in long-term care settings. ALTC is read by an audience of more than 33,000 medical directors, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, psychiatrists, and other allied health professionals in the United States. 

The aim of the journal is to provide long-term care clinicians with timely, evidence-based, practical information that can be used to improve the care of their residents. ALTC features peer-reviewed educational and informational articles on topics including: clinical diagnosis and management; quality improvement initiatives; care transitions; medication safety and deprescribing; prevention of hospital readmissions; and end-of-life care planning.

ALTC is published in conformance with the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing. No fees or charges are required for manuscript processing and/or publishing materials in the journal.

ALTC is indexed in Scopus, EMBASE/Excerpta Medica and in the Cumulative Index for Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL).

Digital issues are available online open access. PDFs of issue articles can be accessed with site registration.
