Bellofatto named IAEDP president
Pekin, Ill. — The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp) has announced that Mary Bellofatto, MA LMHC, CEDS, NCC, TEP, has been appointed president of the association’s board of directors.
Bellofatto, an iaedp member for over 20 years, will take over for immediate past president, Adrienne Ressler, who held the position for two years and will continue serving as a board member.
Bellofatto will answer questions for members at the 2011 iaedp Symposium, which will take place March 3-6 at the Pointe Hilton at Squaw Peak in Phoenix.
“Having been a member of iaedp for over 20 years, I think I can safely say I like this organization,” said Bellofatto. “I am happy to begin leading an association that is first and foremost a wealth of training, information, friends, colleagues, and mentors, as well as opens up the possibilities for new relationships and continued growth in the field of eating disorders.”
Former president Ressler noted that iaedp has grown and flourished in the last two years, most notably through successful symposiums in Long Beach and Orlando, increased membership, an expanded International Committee, and a new listserve that provides information and resources as well as lively discussions.
"I’m excited to see what new energy and fresh ideas Mary will bring to the table,” Ressler said.
Bellofatto served as clinical director for one of the first residential treatment centers for eating disorders in Naples, Fla. Presently, she owns and directs a training and consulting company that has worked with many of the national treatment centers on eating disorders and addictions.
An award-winning speaker, a Toastmasters Bronze, a Who’s Who in U.S Executives, and a Lexington Who’s Who of Executives and Professionals, Bellofatto has been in the mental health field for over 35 years, leading retreats, seminars, trainings, and program development in the eating disorder field nationally, and internationally.
iaedp members will have access to Bellofatto during the 2011 iaedp Symposium, where she’ll be leading a special lunch program March 5 on “Psychodrama for Adolescents.” Joining Mary to demonstrate the use of drama, music and dance programming for adolescents is “The Atomik 12” under the creative direction of Heather Lloyd.
Mary will also be available at the many networking events throughout the symposium, from the red carpet premiere of America the Beautiful: Health for Sale to the art exhibit with Fritz Liedtke and his Skeleton in the Closet photography series.
