Haven Behavioral Healthcare names new SVP/CFO

Haven Behavioral Healthcare, Inc., a provider of behavioral healthcare for adults, senior citizens and active-duty military personnel, today announced the addition of John T. Fick as the senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Fick’s primary responsibilities at this new position will be to monitor Haven Behavioral’s current financial initiatives and to implement new strategies for future financial decisions.

“We are excited about the addition of a seasoned executive such as John to our team,” said Vern Westrich, president and chief executive officer of Haven Behavioral Healthcare. “His knowledge of accounting standards and ability to strategically plan financial outcomes will be invaluable to the future of our company.”

Through his work, Fick has developed skills in accounting, analytics and problem solving, particularly in the healthcare industry. Fick’s experience spans public accounting, operations and financial management, as well as supervising financial and administrative staff.

Most recently, Fick served as senior vice president corporate controller and treasurer at Nashville-based Essent Healthcare Inc., which owned hospitals in Texas, Connecticut and Pennsylvania until its recent merger with another hospital company. Before that role, he served as Essent’s vice president corporate controller. In this role, he provided financial, accounting and strategic oversight to the hospital CFOs and controllers. Fick was responsible for accounting compliance and created the company’s financial reporting structure.

Prior to Essent, Fick was vice president of financial operations for PhyCor, Inc., a company that owned and operated multi-specialty physician clinics and independent physician associations. Before taking on this role, Fick was the company’s director of financial operations. His role was the oversight of financial planning and accounting functions at large multi-specialty clinics, with net revenues of $20 to $80 million.

Previously, Fick was a senior manager at Ernst & Young in New Orleans. In this position, Fick engaged in audit fieldwork for healthcare clients.

“I am excited about the opportunity to work with Haven Behavioral and will use my knowledge to assist them in their continued growth,” said Fick. “Haven has a reputation for quality care and I am honored to now be a part of that tradition.”

Fick earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Orleans.
