Enhanced Wound Documentation: A Suite of Products to meet the Varied Requirements Across the Continuum of Care
Electronic wound management systems are proving effective in improving patient outcomes, improving the patient’s experience of care, and reducing the cost of care.
Across the care continuum, care is delivered in varied care settings (hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, the patient’s home), by staff with varying degrees of training, and in situations with varied clinical data requirements. To efficiently gather this information requires a wound documentation system that can provide a range of capabilities to match the needs of the patient, the clinician, and the healthcare provider.
We describe a comprehensive wound documentation system which offers a suite of point of care devices with different capabilities - from a sophisticated 3D camera that accurately captures the image and wound dimension (including depth and volume), to an “app†that installs on a highly portable mobile device and gathers an image that is stored in the patient’s medical record..
The devices in the suite all interface with a single data repository to provide a comprehensive patient wound record incorporating data captured by each of the point of care devices. Data can be analysed and reviewed using a configurable charting capability. Advantages include having a single data location for reference by the multidisciplinary team, making the complete patient wound record available to data analytics engines, and ensuring a common interface to existing EMRs.
This suite of products also finds application in clinical trials.
Case studies of the system being employed in various clinical care settings and clinical trials settings will be included.
