Special to OWM: OWM in Transition
Like the fields of clinical practice it serves, Ostomy/Wound Management changes and grows to reflect the needs and interests of its readers. New columns are added. Editorial responsibilities shift. Long-time Editorial Board members assume different duties that better fit with demands on their time and talents. Clinicians with varied areas of expertise offer their services.
Three of OWM's Editorial Board members will have new titles. Consulting Editor Robert S. Kirsner, MD, and Editorial Advisory Board member Evonne Fowler, RN, MN, CETN, now will be Emeritus members of the Editorial Board, allowing them more schedule flexibility in their roles as Co-Chairs of the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care. They will continue to provide clinical insights as they strengthen the relationship between presenting at the Symposium and publishing in our journal. We thank Dr. Kirsner and Evonne for their many years of dedicated service. We are grateful that we will be able to utilize their knowledge and experience in this new capacity.
Stepping into the role of Consulting Editor will be Daniel Mark Siegel, MD, MS, formerly a member of OWM's Editorial Advisory Board. Dr. Siegel's background in dermatology, his passion for new applications of advancing technology, and his enthusiasm for OWM's current status and burgeoning potential render him a perfect fit for the job of helping oversee editorial content.
We welcome Dr. Siegel to his new position. His contributions will continue to shape our mission and vision.
We also would like to welcome two new Board members. David Armstrong, DPM, PhD, will join the Editorial Advisory Board. His primary responsibilities will include peer-review and author solicitation. An innovative podiatrist, author, and world-renowned speaker, Dr. Armstrong will ensure that OWM continues to provide timely, accurate articles on wound care, particularly as it relates to diabetic feet (see "My Scope of Practice" in this issue for more information on Dr. Armstrong). Laurie Rappl, PT, CWS, has become a member of the Editorial Review Board, where she will provide article reviews and relevant book reviews. A familiar face and author in OWM circles, Laurie's expertise in wound care, skin care, and long-term care, not to mention her knowledge of the support surface industry, will enhance the journal's ability to cover these topics adeptly.
The publishers, editors, and staff of OWM are confident that these changes to the masthead will allow us to improve our ability to offer readers the latest information on contemporary topics in skin, wound, ostomy, and incontinence care. We congratulate all of our Editorial Board members for the quality of their efforts on behalf of the journal and thank them for helping shape our success.
