Silver dressing manages moisture, odor, and inflammation in skin folds

Coloplast Corp (Atlanta, GA) introduces InterDry™ Ag Textile with Silver Complex. The dressing is specially designed to manage moisture, odor, and inflammation in skin folds and other skin-to-skin contact areas. This is the first product designed for skin fold management.   Clinical case studies revealed that after 5 days of use, 100% of the patients showed improvement in reducing the multiple symptoms associated with intertrigo, maceration, denudement, itching, erythema, satellite lesions, and inflammation.

The dressing is a knitted, 100% polyester textile impregnated with a silver complex that manages the effects of moisture in skin folds and body contours. This product is formulated with a proprietary polyurethane coating that is designed to absorb, wick, and translocate moisture away from the body, keeping skin folds dry. The textile also provides a smooth and lubricious contact surface to reduce friction and add protection against skin tears and costly pressure ulcers. The silver formulation in the product controls the odor associated with moisture between skin folds.

Foley catheter holder secures without tape or discomfort

Dale Medical Products (Plainville, MA) introduces the Dale Foley Catheter Holder that stabilizes the indwelling catheter and helps reduce meatal irritation without restricting patient movement. This capability meets Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN) guidelines for securing catheters. The catheter holder features a green Velcro® locking device with two interlocking tabs that anchor the catheter and a soft, supple, 2-inch wide leg band that stretches without narrowing to avoid the tourniquet effect. Designed to secure the catheter anywhere along the tube or at the “Y” port, this holder minimizes catheter movement and is easy to rotate.

The locking device’s two interlocking tabs attach to the leg band and facilitate catheter traction. The holder is latex-free and will not irritate the skin, eliminating the problems associated with tape and the need for shaving. One size fits most adults and children comfortably.
