Once-a-day moisturizer combats xerosis effects

Coloplast Corp. (Atlanta, Ga.) has introduced Sween 24, a routine, long-lasting, once-a-day moisturizer for dry, flaky skin associated with xerosis. The non-greasy formulation spreads easily, absorbs quickly, and is clinically proven to moisturize the skin for 24-hours.

Absorptive foam dressing stays in place with fewer changes

DermaRite Industries (Paterson, NJ) has introduced Derma Levin, a sterile, waterproof foam dressing. The dressing maintains a moist wound environment and absorbs four times more excess exudates than hydrocolloids. Its nonadherent wound contact layer and a semipermeable polyurethane film top layer conform well in awkward-to-dress areas that stays in place with fewer changes. The dressing also helps prevent bacterial contamination during the healing process and is effective in managing chronic and acute wounds, low- to moderately exuding, partial- and full-thickness wounds, Stages II, III, and IV ulcers, pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, and donor sites.
