Skin care product line expanded

Span-America (Greenville, SC) announced a new addition to its Selan® family of skin care products. New Selan+ Herbal is a zinc oxide barrier cream enhanced with tea tree oil, a safe natural plant extract that is native to Australia. Tea tree oil has been used effectively for decades. Its use in a barrier cream makes the product an ideal option for holistic approaches and treatments for diaper rash and other rashes due to moisture, Stage I pressure ulcers, amputee tissue trauma, and the itch associated with end stage renal disease. The cream is petrolatum-free and will not clog diaper pores or interfere with diaper absorption and is available in 4-oz tubes.

New personal cleansing product warmers eliminate guesswork

Sage Products (Cary, Ill.) introduced completely redesigned electric warming units for easy, consistent preparation of their prepackaged, disposable patient cleansing products. Comfort Personal Cleansing® Warmers are the first to automatically display the individual warming status of every product inside, eliminating confusion and guesswork for clinicians. Each product is warmed to a consistent, reliable temperature. Meanwhile, lighted indicators automatically show which products are ready for use and which ones are not. The new units also promote efficient, first-in/first-out stock rotation. If a product has been in the warmer for an extended period of time, its flashing green “Take First” indicator lights up instead.

The warmers are available in 14- and 28-count units. The units are front-loading, and see-through doors make it easy to check stock and warming status even from a distance.

Hydrophilic catheter makes intermittent cathing easier

Rochester Medical Corporation (Stewartville, Minn.) introduced Hydrophilic Personal Catheter®. Packaged in its own sterile water, the latex-free, PVC-free catheter is easy on delicate urethral tissues while its packaging makes it easy to prep and sterilize. The silicone construction provides enough firmness for comfortable catheter movement, and its gentle handling characteristics minimize trauma. The hydrophilic coating creates a cushion of water over the surface, offering friction-free insertion and removal without messy lubricants. A seamless tapered tip and four, comfort-sized drainage eyes also help the catheter move smoothly. The all-silicone construction is free from allergen, toxin, or disposal concerns associated with other products.

The catheter is available in male (16"), female (6"), and pediatric (10") lengths in diameters ranging from 10 French through 18 French (male and female) and 8 French through 10 French (pediatric). Most state Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance companies will cover the catheter.
