Undergarment briefs help nourish and protect skin
Medline Industries Inc. (Mundelein, Ill) announces the launch of Restore™ briefs treated with Remedy™ Skin Repair Cream, a new skin care treatment that nourishes and protects patients’ skin. The briefs were designed to help healthcare workers achieve compliance with the new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines on preventing skin breakdown.
The skin cream product is applied to the entire length of the brief to help restore and maintain the skin’s natural balance while delivering vital nutrients to the skin.
Designed to provide maximum comfort and dryness, the briefs offer 100% breathable side panels on the front and back that improve airflow to keep residents comfortable and prevent irritation. Refastenable tape tabs with “grab-anywhere” technology offer the best possible fit and allow caregivers to check a brief and easily refasten. The soft, cloth-like outer cover is comfortable against the skin and helps prevent irritation and rash.

Dressings deliver clinical and financial benefits
Kendall (Mansfield, Mass) introduces a new generation of dressings—CURITY™ AMD™ Packing Strips and COPA™ Ultra-Soft Foam Dressings. These dressings are the latest extension of the company’s family of dressings that deliver both clinical and financial benefits.
The application of a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) makes the packing strips 7,000 times more effective than iodoform, but with a lower cytotoxic profile. The packing strips are proven to be simple to use and provide powerful protection against a host of organisms without negatively affecting epithelialization. The single-use package promotes sterile technique and reduces preparation time and costs.
The foam dressings are designed to deliver clinical efficiency and patient comfort. The dressings are structured with micropores that decrease the chance of tissue migration into the dressings. The product’s fluid capacity decreases dressing change frequency and lowers costs. The suppleness of the dressings provides immediate and lasting patient comfort and excellent conformability for hard-to-dress areas. The dressings are available in a variety of versions and sizes.
