AAWC Update

SAWC Early Bird Rate Expires Soon

The Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) Spring is taking place in San Antonio on April 30–May 3 (the Wound Healing Society portion of the conference begins a day earlier, April 29). AAWC Members who register before Friday, February 27 qualify for the Early Bird rate for as low as $320. With the AAWC celebrating its 20th Anniversary and inaugural AAWC Clinical Practice Track taking place, this is a SAWC that should not be missed.

The AAWC 20th Anniversary festivities at SAWC Spring will begin with the AAWC membership meeting “Help Shape Our Field,” where input will be solicited on critical decisions regarding a proposed set of wound care-related clinical end points for submission to the US Food and Drug Administration. Afterward, all attendees are invited to the AAWC Anniversary Celebration party sponsored by the SAWC.

The AAWC Clinical Practice Track’s 15 sessions will provide evidence-based, patient-centered, multidisciplinary, practical information clinicians will easily be able to share with decision makers and colleagues after the conference. Visit the SAWC Agenda page at www.sawc.net/spring/attendees/agenda and select “AAWC Clinical Practice Track” from the right side of the page.

Once again, the AAWC was honored to select AAWC members as the winners of the SAWC Nursing and Physician Scholarships. Congratulations to the following 2015 SAWC Spring Scholarship Winners:

AAWC 2015 Board of Directors Election Continues through February 22

Elections are being held online in the Members-Only section of www.aawconline.org from February 2–22. Only active, dues-paying members have voting privileges. Board members will attend the Annual Board of Directors Meeting and will take office at the Annual AAWC Membership Meeting. These meetings are held this spring in conjunction with SAWC, the AAWC’s official conference.

Annual Recruit a Member Drawing

The AAWC encourages membership through the Annual “Recruit a Member” program. When a current member recruits a new member, both participants are entered into a drawing to receive a free membership renewal. The winners are chosen by January 10 of each year. The program is open all year and the more people a member recruits, the more chances there are to win. The complimentary 1-year renewal is added to one’s existing membership. The 2014 Recruit a Member raffle winners are Jennith Welliver, RN, CHRN and Julie Cucco, RN, BSN, MSA. The AAWC is grateful to Julie and all AAWC members for recruiting new members each year. Visit aawconline.org/membership-info-2 for more information.
