AAWC Update

The Association expresses its appreciation to everyone who attended the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC Spring) and visited the AAWC booth. Many participated in AAWC’s fundraising activities with proceeds supporting the Scholarship Fund, Global Volunteers Program, and Patient Advocacy efforts. If you missed SAWC Spring in Orlando, be sure to join us at SAWC Fall at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, October 16-18.

Managing Wounds as a Team

The AAWC is pleased to have partnered with the European Wound Management Association and the Australian Wound Management Association to develop an unprecedented paper on the multidisciplinary approach to wound care. The document also was created in collaboration with the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot.   With its patient-centered approach, this paper is a must-read for anyone involved in the prevention and care of wounds. The document can be accessed from the Journal of Wound Care at www.journalofwoundcare.com.

2014 AAWC Scholarship Program is Open to Members

The AAWC has scholarships available for wound care education, teaching, and travel, as well as the 2nd Annual Robert A. Warriner, MD, III Memorial Grant for education or research support, as specified in the scholarship guidelines. The application submission period ends at the close of business (5 PM EDT) on August 31, 2014. Winners will be notified by October 15. Consideration will be given to funding support events that may have already been paid for (such as a college course), as well as events that will occur in the near future. If you are not a member, it is not too late to join the AAWC in order to submit an application. Learn more at: www.aawconline.org/scholarships.
