AAWC Pays Tribute to VIP Volunteers

The first order of business for Vickie R. Driver, MS, DPM, FACFAS, the new AAWC President, was to recognize the Association’s volunteers and congratulate them for their work. All committee and task force members were invited to attend the 1st Annual AAWC VIP Volunteers meeting during SAWC Spring this past April in Orlando, FL. Certificates of Appreciation were provided to everyone in attendance. The AAWC has more than 100 volunteers, filling nearly 30 committees and task forces, and six liaisons to other organizations. Many volunteers hold more than one position.

Membership is required to volunteer. If you’re not a member and want to become involved, please join the AAWC at www.aawconline.org.

AAWC Patient and Caregiver Newsletter

The AAWC’s campaign to provide patients with a voice was initiated in 2009. Based on this goal, the Association provides free membership to support patients and caregivers; this group’s official name is AAWC WIN (“Wounds in Need”). The AAWC WIN Task Force supports these members and publishes a patient-focused newsletter that discusses AAWC WIN goals, activities, and accomplishments. Published quarterly, the newsletter also provides education and wound care articles in a reader-friendly format. The spring edition of the WIN Newsletter is now available on the AAWC website and can be downloaded at www.aawconline.org/aawc-wounds-in-need-win-newsletter/. Clinicians are invited to print and place the newsletters in their wound facility waiting rooms for the public to read.

Support the AAWC Through Online Shopping

The AAWC has partnered with Ziggedy, a website that allows you to shop from Amazon, Nordstrom, Groupon, and more than 4,000 other online retailers while earning extra cash for the AAWC. Your purchases provide an average of 3% (up to 30% depending on retailer) of the purchase price in donations directly to the Association.

To let your shopping support the AAWC, simply create a free Ziggedy account by visiting: www.ziggedy.com/user/npolink?npoid=294680.

AAWC Annual Report

The 2014 AAWC Annual Report is scheduled for release this summer. This year’s issue is full of information about AAWC accomplishments over the past year and includes a look at what is to come. The AAWC President’s Message from Dr. Driver provides insights into future plans. The report will be emailed to members and available on the home page of the AAWC website at www.aawconline.org at the end of August.
