Christopher Kwolek, MD, is a vascular surgeon with Massachusetts General Hospital who began working with the Vortex large-diameter catheter system (AngioDynamics) for removal of pulmonary embolism several years ago. Here, Dr. Kwolek discusses the benefits of the device as well as a case example of a patient that he treated using the Vortex suction device to remove thrombus.
