Major Changes to Telehealth Regulations May Be on the Horizon
“Overall, the federal and state laws and regulations have embraced telehealth much more than they ever have…but we still have to fight because there are some areas that are regulated in an unhelpful way,” said Edward Kaftarian, MD, executive chairman, Orbit Health Telepsychiatry, and Psych Congress Steering Committee member.
In this video, Dr Kaftarian provides a quick update on telehealth regulations in the United States, including current policies on prescribing controlled substances remotely. He also explains how the 2024 presidential election may affect current policies in the near future as the next administration prepares to take office in January 2025.

Edward Kaftarian, MD, is a preeminent authority in the field of Telepsychiatry. He holds a distinguished seat on the Telepsychiatry Committee of the American Psychiatric Association and is a member of the Steering Committee for PsychCongress, the United States' largest independent mental health educational conference. Additionally, Dr. Kaftarian is a prominent speaker on the rules and regulations governing telehealth.
