Palos Health May Join Loyola Medicine

Loyola Medicine and Palos Health are exploring the possibility of Palos Health and its affiliate organizations joining Loyola’s regional health system. The two organizations recently signed a nonbinding letter of intent, the terms of which have not been disclosed, which resulted in the launch of a due diligence process. The due diligence process is expected to last several months.

Palos Health, a fully integrated, community-based healthcare system that serves Chicago’s south and southwest suburbs, formed an academic affiliation with Loyola Medicine in 2015. The partnership brought Loyola stroke specialists to Palos Hospital and streamlined trauma transfers and subspecialty referrals from Palos to Loyola.

“Our patients are our priority at Palos Health, and one way we have maintained this commitment is by seeking strategic partnerships to best serve our communities,” said Terrence Moisan, MD, president and CEO of Palos Health, in a joint press release. “By fully integrating with Loyola Medicine, we will enhance our clinical strength, increase our flexibility, and provide our community with more comprehensive care across an expanded region.”

Loyola Medicine’s regional health system includes Loyola University Medical Center, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, MacNeal Hospital and its affiliated operations acquired from Tenet Healthcare in 2018, and a large ambulatory network offering primary and specialty care.

Palos Health includes the 425-bed Palos Hospital, Palos Medical Group, and Palos Health South Campus in Orland Park.
