Transcript:

Hello everyone. My name is Andres Yarur. I'm a staff gastroenterologist and associate professor of medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

I wanted to thank the Sherman family for the honor of receiving the Emerging Leader Sherman Prize this year. I was recognized with this award for our work on optimizing treatments that we now have available for inflammatory bowel disease and also the development of future better and safer options.

Even though, we do have great treatment options for both Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and things have dramatically changed in the last few years but we still have a lot of work to do. And not only in the treatment standpoint, but also in the diagnosis. We need to try to understand a little bit better why Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis can develop in someone, how we treat it. This has been really a wonderful recognition, for all the work we have done in the area.

Now the truth is that this has been a team effort, so I also wanted to thank all the collaborators and all the patients that volunteer their time. We do really look forward for the future to develop further treatment, to develop the knowledge and the science aiming to help those with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
